MASTERSTROKE

Why is Anitta the subject of the column? Because she has just joined the Board of Directors of Nubank

She was born in the north of Rio de Janeiro and had a humble childhood, then trained and dedicated herself to achieve her professional goal and managed to build a solid and very successful career. To top it off, she speaks three languages and has the ability to manage a large team.

I'm talking, you know who? From Anita. For me, it is an entrepreneurial machine that knew how to create and grow a product – itself.

And why is Anitta the subject of the column? Because she has just joined Nubank's Board of Directors. She is the seventh member of the group.

In a statement, the bank says that the singer will help improve the company's products and services and that she will participate in quarterly meetings with the board, in which they will discuss performance strategies.

“Anitta has deep knowledge of consumer behavior in these markets that she has explored and has a lot of experience in winning marketing strategies. These skills were key for us to invite her to the Board”, said David Vélez, CEO of Nubank.

It was a master shot at the bank – and daring, not only because of Anitta's talent, but also because she has a strong personality like any and all self-made entrepreneurs. This topic is much debated when a fund acquires part of a company, for example: How will it work with the founder?

This is what diversity brings: different origins, thoughts, expertise and experiences. Anitta will take to the company the environment in which she travels. It is an opportunity for the bank to reach potential customers and consumers, people who may not know the company and how it works.

As a counselor, she will present to Nubank executives a reality that can be commercially exploited. Given the singer's experience, she will certainly add an entrepreneurial vision, perhaps empirical and unstructured, but from someone who has accomplished something as big as Nubank – and maybe even more, because it didn't raise funds in series A, B, venture capital etc. She got where she got in the race, with a lot of dedication and talent.

If I were in a company that had a mass product, I would certainly love to have Anitta on my board. Even more so in a company in the financial sector, where banks are seen as villains.

Anitta is for me just like some entrepreneurs in Brazil, who came out of nowhere, in a country that nothing and no one helps you, and got there, with a lot of sweat and dedication.
